Welcome to Hanoi

Welcome to Hanoi

Hanoi, the capital of Socialist Republic of Vietnam today, is located in the red River Delta in the heart of North Vietnam. It is the political, economic, cultural, commercial and tourist center of the country, the second biggest city after Hochiminh city demographically and geographically. It was founded in 1010 AD during the reign of King Ly Cong Uan.

Although Hanoi was always destroyed by war times, many ancient architectural features are still preserved in Hanoi, especially in the fascinating warren of streets known as the Old Quarter. There are over 600 pagodas, numerous lakes like Hoan Kiem lake...and parks, where local people tend to gather at weekend and in the evening. The most notable lakes are fabled Hoan Kiem lake in the heart of the city, and the vast extensive of West Lake. The most popular sights include One-Pillar pagoda, former bureau of Governor's Indochina, Hochiminh's mausoleum, Ngoc Son temple and Temple of Literature known as the first university of Vietnam dynasties.

WHEN TO GO?
The best time to visit is from September to April every year, when northern Vietnam is generally warm, sunny, and dry, although typhoons can threaten coastal areas in September and October. Cold winter weather arrives in December and January. Summer is hot and humid from North to South. Please check the weather before traveling to Vietnam.

HOW TO GET THERE?
Hanoi's gateway is Noi Bai International Airport, approximately 30 km north of downtown. It takes 40 minutes by taxi from Hanoi airport to city centre.
Several airlines offer non-stop flights from Asian hubs airports like Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Hong Kong, Seoul, Narita, Tokyo and Bangkok to Hanoi.
